First day at sea

 

Sunday 21^st September 2025 First day at sea.

Let’s see what breakfast is like on Diamond Princess. Off to the International dining room. The queue is out the door so we could be in for a bit of a wait. Next thing, a staff member comes out to the line and selects 6 groups of 2 couples and says ‘follow me!’ We go to the Santa Fe dining room, apparently reserved for guests in suites and are seated. Breakfast was really good, especially the bacon! Couldn’t fault  anything really. 

 

Trevor woke up this morning in pain, barely able to move his head, his neck muscles have seized up. Was it the pillow? They’re not great. Was it that his carry on backpack was too heavy? Maybe. Possibly a combination of both. Luckily after lunch, the spa staff were doing taster treatments in the Atrium, neck and shoulder massages included. So we both sat and had a massage.

The Captain made an announcement this morning that due to having to slow down to avoid a heavy weather system, we wouldn’t be able to stop at our first port, Akita. Disappointing news but understandable, given the number of older passengers, many with mobility issues. It’ll probably do Trevor good to have another quiet day. He only ever slows down when he’s not well.

For dinner tonight we are going to the Brazillian BBQ restaurant, Churrascaria Grill. We’ve been fortunate to have some on board credit, so we might as well use some at a specialty restaurant. Hopefully it will be special!
